As part of the Journées de la culture at LAC, Library and Archives Canada invites you to a conversation with Jay Odjick.
During this conversation, Jay will share his creative journey, inspirations and artistic process, while reflecting on Indigenous identity, culture and storytelling. The discussion will explore the importance of Indigenous creators telling their own stories, the power of representation, and how art and creativity can contribute to cultural expression, understanding and reconciliation. About the author
From the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabe community, Jay Odjick is an accomplished Indigenous writer, artist and television producer whose work brings Indigenous stories, perspectives and creativity to audiences of all ages.
Jay is best known as the creator of Kagagi, an Indigenous superhero who has appeared in graphic novels and an animated television series. He has also illustrated several books by renowned Canadian author Robert Munsch. He is also the creator and author of the new graphic novel KABOOM: Blast Off, published by Scholastic Canada. Through his work, Jay combines storytelling, art and representation to create stories that resonate across generations.
