About this event

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) and the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR) invite you to mark Remembrance Day with them in Ottawa with a family-focused activity centred around We Remember: Canada’s Story.

  1. Listen to a live reading of the book by a veteran or currently serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces
  2. Participate in hands-on activities, including letter writing
  3. Explore related archival and published collections
  4. Ask the experts in the room about military service and history

We Remember: Canada’s Story is one of six books launched by the CIMVHR, the Royal Canadian Legion and the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services to help children from military, veteran and public safety personnel families build strength and coping skills. This title is a collaborative effort with input from 24 veterans from across Canada. Directed at elementary-school-aged children, the book explores the ways we remember and commemorate service during war and peacetime. The text is enriched by photographs preserved at LAC.

The event will be offered in English in the morning and in French in the afternoon—register for the session of your choice!
