Book Launch: Mes beaux Rimbaud by Michèle Vinet

Library and Archives Canada and Éditions L’Interligne invite you to the launch of Mes beaux Rimbaud, the latest book by Michèle Vinet.
In 2012, under the direction of Sylvie Frigon, criminologist at the University of Ottawa, and as part of a project by the Association des auteures et auteurs de l’Ontario français (AAOF), Michèle Vinet helped develop and deliver creative writing workshops in correctional institutions and mental health settings. Born from these profoundly moving encounters, Mes beaux Rimbaud chronicles a dual transformation: that of the author, whose perspective was reshaped by the complex realities of incarceration and the lives of those behind bars; and that of the participants, who discovered in writing both a source of pride and a sense of solace.
To be absorbed in small doses, these poems and prose pieces explore the frustration stemming from the prison system's rigidity, the pain of separation from loved ones, the delight of playing with language, and, above all, the resilience of those who, despite formidable obstacles, continue to find light amid life's darkest passages. The book includes a foreword by writer and poet Éric Charlebois, who also took part in the project, and features watercolours by André St-Onge.
The evening will include a conversation hosted by Éric Charlebois, a reading by the author, and a book-signing session. A wine reception will follow.

About the author
Michèle Vinet holds degrees from the University of Ottawa in French literature and education, specializing in French as a second language. Throughout her career, she has worked in education, theatre, and film. She is the author of five books, which have garnered eleven award nominations and several literary honours. Her work has also appeared in a range of literary journals.
About the host
Éric Charlebois is a Franco-Ontarian author of several award-winning poetry collections. He has also translated numerous Indigenous poems, helping to foster literary creativity in schools. He is deeply committed to the fields of equity, diversity and inclusion. Éric lives in Hawkesbury, where he runs his own company specializing in communications and translation, leadership, emotional intelligence, and educational entrepreneurship.

Paid parking spaces are available at 395 Wellington Street, on the west side of the building. Parking meters and public parking lots can also be found on the surrounding streets.
Bike racks are also available in front of the building.
