Book Club at LAC: Celebrating Pride Season

Grab your friends and join us at Library and Archives Canada (LAC) for Book Club, a time-honoured tradition where participants are invited to share their favourite reads and discover new ones!
This August, as we celebrate Pride, Book Club will explore stories by and about members of the Canadian 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, allies, and anyone interested in discovering diverse perspective are invited to take part. Come celebrate love, diversity and acceptance through a shared appreciation of books and reading.
What is Book Club?
Book Club lets you gather with other readers and explore works connected by a shared theme. Each session begins with a conversation between a facilitator and a guest reader. Participants are then invited to ask questions, share their favourite books, engage in discussion with fellow readers, and browse related books from LAC’s collections.
No prior reading is required to participate. Every month, we suggest a list of titles from the collections preserved at LAC to guide and inspire your reading and our conversation.
Registration
Book Club sessions are offered in either English or French, depending on the date. Seating is limited, and advance registration is recommended:
English Book Club: Thursday, August 20, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (ET)
French Book Club: Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (ET)
If registration online is full, you are still welcome to attend in person at 395 Wellington Street, Ottawa, on the day of the event. Spots may become available at the last minute due to cancellations.

Parking
Paid parking spaces are available at 395 Wellington Street, on the west side of the building. Parking meters and public parking lots can also be found on the surrounding streets.
Bike racks are also available in front of the building.
Several OC Transpo and Société de transport de l’Outaouais bus routes serve stops located near 395 Wellington Street.
